The Adoption Process

It is totally normal to feel overwhelmed or confused when looking to adopt rats. Here is a list to follow if you are interested in adopting from Grey's Rattery!

Between Google, Facebook, rat groups, etc. there is plenty of information out there. That said, there is a lot of misinformation out there. Rats are considered exotic pets, meaning they require care that is not standard practice for vets.

To get into it, here is the adoption process:

1. Do your research

   The blog, website, website FAQ, and facebook, all have plenty of information. These are here to educate and prepare you to adopt with me.

2. Fill out an adoption application.

   If you are ready to adopt, fill out an adoption application. This can be found on the website.

3. Wait for us to reach out!

   Once I have reviewed your application I will reach out with any remaining questions and we will chat about your best match! I may also ask you to make any cage, diet, lifestyle changes for the rats to ensure safety and longterm health.

4. Forms and payment

   We have found your perfect matches! I will send over the contract, pickup address, payment options, and pick-up time options. Payment and contract may be completed on pick up if you opt in to examine the rats.

5. Pick up

   You will bring an appropriate carrier or cage to pick up your rats. I will provide a bag of transitional items including food.

6. Stay connected
