Hi! Welcome to Grey's Rattery, my name is Maddox.
I remember being 15 and in highschool, wanting pet rats. Many, many years later I got my first rats, 5 feeder rats named after Grey's Anatomy characters. One of those feeders, Miranda, ended up being pregnant. 3 weeks later we had babies! I was absolutely head over heels for these little guys.
I have always been interested in genetics, science, anatomy, and ethical dog breeding so it only made sense that I would find ethical rat breeding. From there I began my journey to establish an ethical breeding program.
My goal first and foremost is to produce happy, healthy babies. While I acknowledge feeders can make amazing pets, the lines I am creating are never sold as first, second, or third generation feeder rats. I pride myself on being properly educated and always updating my practices. As a hobby breeder, learning never ends. I have a few amazing mentors who I am so grateful to have assisting me with my journey.
A little more about me:
I own my own dog training business, No Paws Like Home. I also just started a non-profit with the goal to make service dog training accessible for everyone. I spend a lot of my free time hiking, going to coffee shops, and enjoying my family. I was born and raised in Socal and moved to Colorado last year. I have a lot of passion around animal welfare and educating others on how to properly care and fulfill their four legged family members.

1. Submit an application - Fill out our adoption application. It helps us understand your experience, goals, and what kind of home you can offer.
2. Application review - We review each application and make sure our babies would thrive in your home. If we have questions, we’ll reach out.
3. Join the waitlist - Approved applicants are added to the waitlist for the litter or timeframe they prefer.
4. Matching - Once babies are born, I make suggested matches based on gender, temperament, and what each family is hoping for. Breeder has first pick to support our program goals.
5. Pick up - Babies stay with mom until about five weeks, then are separated by gender. They can go home starting around 8 weeks when they’re confident, healthy, and eating well. At 8 weeks I am able to get a better understanding of personality.
6. Follow up - We encourage you to check in as often as you want. We are available for questions, support, and updates throughout their lives.

The "Grey's" line goal is to give you that perfect pet full of personality
